"Because when you find yourself the villain in the story you have written
It’s plain to see
That sometimes the best intentions are in need of redemptions
Would you agree?"

“You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn’t black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing. You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, fuck it, I don’t care what you think. I’m trying to do the right thing. I’m tired of Republican-Democrat politics. They can take the job and shove it. I come from a blue-collar background. I’m trying to do the right thing, and that’s where I’m going with this.”

brilliant.
“Casual is sexy. Caring is creepy. You don’t want to show your hand, and you certainly don’t want to fall in love. At least until you do, and by then it’s too late.”

happiness is
- eating Raisin Bran Crunch at my desk and reading this blog: http://missedconnectionsny.blogspot.com/
- managers who care about me enough to not dump unreasonable amounts of work on my plate, but rather will work with me to prioritize and reassign so I don’t go batshit crazy
- biking to work on a quiet, lovely stretch of the Sacramento River levee
- Brittany back in town, and Nicole feeling better, so our trio will be reunited tonight with much revelry and headaches in the morning to show for it
- free Wi-Fi on the bottom floor of my building…meaning catching up on Words with Friends duels on my breaks
- Seastar coming home from Berkeley tonight
- “Volunteering” (read: being coerced via social pressure) to emcee this year’s Take Back the Night rally…well alright, not so much happiness as a sick feeling the pit of my stomach
- it’s Friday. the end.

apocalypse? no.
I am getting so sick of seeing commercials for end-of-the-world movies, TV shows, video games…as if real-life apocalypse paranoia wasn’t aggravating enough.
On the bright side, the fact that I know the nature of commercials these days is a good sign that I have been relaxing and watching a lot of TV and movies, which is exactly what I wanted to do this weekend. I came down with a wicked little head cold last Monday, on top of all the other nonsense that came with the week, and was in desperate need of TLC. I slept at least 10 hours every night, watched some of my favorite movies (Harry Potter 7, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars, if you must know), and even managed to shop for some summer wardrobe staples.
Among the spoils:
1. A sharp fedora
2. Summer dresses

(in a black floral print, not white)
(in black AND red)
3. Accessories

Now all I need are some sassy sandals to match, and I’ll be good to go.
Back to my productive weekend…aka, watching Star Wars IV with my dad and a glass of wine. Win.
